Joanie Tom, an architect and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. She is the founder and principal of GLO Architecture & Design PLLC.

Joanie received a Master in Architecture with Distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. During her time there she was the recipient of the Araldo Cossutta Prize for Design Excellence, the KPF Traveling Fellowship and the AIA Henry Adams Certificate.

Prior to starting GLO, Joanie was an architect at SHoP Architects. Other previous employers include Thomas Phifer & Partners, Behnisch Architekten, Toyo Ito and Associates, and Para Project/Collective LOK. In her life before architecture, Joanie worked in finance, first with Goldman, Sachs & Co., then with HBK Capital Investments.

Joanie has been an invited guest critic at several schools including the Harvard GSD, Columbia GSAPP, RISD, Northeastern, The Cooper Union and Parsons. She previously taught in the Design Discovery program at the GSD and is currently part time faculty at Parsons, the New School for Design.
